Living On Campus

For many new students, living in one of LSU’s residence halls is a convenient and community-focused choice. While freshmen are not required to live on campus, many choose to for easy access to classes, dining, and campus events. Residence halls offer a range of layouts, from traditional shared rooms with common bathrooms to more modern suite-style setups. They come furnished, but typically furnishings are limited to a desk and chair, dresser, twin bed or extra-long twin bed, microwave, mini fridge/freezer and closet space with minimal shelving. Please note there are no kitchens in dorm living.

It’s worth noting that residence hall contracts typically align with the academic year, and the buildings close during certain breaks. If you plan to stay in Baton Rouge over the summer or during holidays, an off-campus option may work better.

Living Off Campus

If you’re looking for more independence of want more space, there are lots of off-campus housing options near LSU.

If you’d prefer to be walking distance to both campus and the stadium, while also having more room, freedom, and space, Sterling Tiger Valley may be a better fit for you. Our leases are 12 months, so whether you’re taking summer classes or just want to spend more time in Baton Rouge, you have the flexibility to stay in town. We’re also located near multiple restaurants, including the original Walk-Ons!
